While we won’t discount some of our friends from getting us wasted on a night out, we will definitely raise an eyebrow should our parents egg us on.
In an interview with Vogue China, Taiwanese star Annie Yi ,56, and her son, Harrison Yu, 22, participated in a game which included a lie detector test.
During the game, Harrison asked Annie if she had ever got him drunk while in London.
Annie went on to candidly reply, “Yes!” before going on to explain.
“All parents should let their children get drunk once,” she confidently said.
Knowing that her take was controversial, Annie went on to defend herself and said she is confident in Harrison’s ability to handle his alcohol after seeing him drunk a few times with friends.
Are we really surprised at this point?
Harrison once described Annie as open-minded and supportive of him pursuing the arts.
Annie’s revelation has however left netizens feeling mixed.
Some praised Annie, with one commenting, “This way, you won’t have to worry too much about him getting drunk in the future.”
As a famous nepo baby — Taiwanese singer Harlem Yu is Harrison’s dad — maybe Annie’s forward thinking will protect him in social settings.
However, there were some who were not on board saying Annie was being inappropriate and setting a bad example.
“Is it worth it to brag about getting your son drunk?” a comment asked.
Well, technically she wasn’t showing off but simply answering a question.
One even said, “Drinking in front of parents is different when with friends.”
At least a couple of fans told the trolls to calm down with one netizen acidly writing, “Are you jealous that Annie and Harrison have such an interesting and casual relationship?”
