Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu’s burial plans have been a hot topic of discussion ever since her sudden passing last month.
The 48-year-old actress died in Japan on Feb 2 after contracting influenza-related pneumonia. Her ashes were brought back to Taiwan by her family on a VistaJet private charter flight on Feb 5.
Initially, it was revealed that Barbie’s family will be proceeding with a tree burial, so as to fulfil her wish for an environmentally friendly resting place.
Reports, however, claimed that such burial method is not as environmentally friendly as it seems as it contains non-biodegradable substances that can hinder the growth of trees.
Barbie’s husband, South Korean rapper DJ Koo, also opposed a tree burial as there will be no gravestone, which would make it difficult for him to “visit” her in the future.
According to new reports, Barbie’s family has decided for the star to be buried at the Chin Pao San cemetery in New Taipei, Taiwan.
DJ Koo reportedly looked at multiple locations with good fengshui and eventually chose Chin Pao San, which also houses the graves of celebrities such as Teresa Teng, Coco Lee and Godfrey Gao.
Rumour has it that there are also plans to erect a statue of Barbie at her tomb, though her family has yet to respond to that.
