A pair of birds trapped in One@KentRidge mall have proven just how smart birds are.
A Xiaohongshu user recently spotted two common myna’s standing at the entrance of the mall behind automated sliding doors.
To their (and our) surprise, one of the Mynas was seen flying in front of the door’s motion sensor, hovering before it for a few seconds to activate it.
Smart myna was successful, fluttering out of the mall the second the door opened, while its friend, which was patiently waiting on the carpet, hopped out as well.
Bird-brained who?
Some may think it was a fluke, but we’d say that the smart myna was definitely moving with intention.
Netizens were equally amused by how bright the mynas were, with some sharing that mynas are in fact one of the most intelligent and highly adaptable birds in the world.
“Less smart birds would say these two are putting on an act,” joked one netizen, while another added that “Chickens in Singapore have even learnt to cross roads.”
One wondered: “Have they picked up such a skill by watching humans do that every day?” And you know what? We’d really like to know too.
