Blackpink member Jennie has signed with American label Columbia Records as a solo artiste, in partnership with her agency OA (Odd Atelier). OA made the announcement on Monday (Sep 9), adding that Jennie will be releasing a solo single in October.
Jennie last released a solo single in October 2023 titled You & Me.
Other popular artistes who have signed with Columbia Records include Beyonce, Harry Styles and Adele.
Besides being one-fourth of the popular K-pop group, 28-year-old Jennie has also embarked on an acting career, appearing in the HBO series The Idol last year alongside The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp.
Jennie’s Blackpink group mates have all been working on solo projects away from the band. Jisoo is set to star in a zombie K-drama titled Newtopia, while Lisa recently released her new single, New Woman, a collaboration with Spanish singer Rosalia. She’s also making her acting debut in the third season of the HBO series, The White Lotus.
Meanwhile, Rose has inked a new management deal with The Black Label, a company owned by Blackpink producer Teddy Park, and has teased new music.
However, Lisa has assured fans that the foursome will not be parting ways. She told Elle US: “Of course, we’re continuing, for sure. We’re so proud of Blackpink, and I love Blackpink. It is not just because of our fans, it’s for ourselves. There was no doubt. This is our life.”
