A company in China has taken extreme measures to ensure that ‘lazy’ employees don’t slack off during work hours.
According to SCMP, Shenzhen-based company Lixun Diansheng has been accused of printing and putting up photos of their employees on the toilet to deter them from taking long toilet breaks.
Apparently, they aren’t happy that some employees were smoking or playing mobile phone games in the stalls.
One employee was said to have been on the toilet for too long and had ignored the knocks on the door from their colleague. The colleague then grabbed a ladder, stood atop it, and took photos of the employee while still on the toilet.
The photo was then printed and pasted on the wall of the restroom.
Smoking in the restroom has also banned smoking.
The company has reportedly been naming and shaming their employees for a few months now. Though the photos were taken down after a few hours, they have been accused of violating employee rights.
Speaking to Chinese media, a lawyer from Celue Law Firm said that the company should not be keeping track of their employees’ “laziness”, especially by using “illegitimate methods”.
The lawyer also added that the company’s actions had infringed upon the privacy of the employees.
The company has since drawn the ire of netizens, many of whom believe the basic human rights of the employees have been ignored. One even questioned why the employees were being treated like “slaves”.
Now that’s a company we’ll never want to work for.
