It’s not uncommon to see Chinese celebs being mobbed by a horde of fans and paparazzi at the airport. It can be frustrating, being the cause of such disruption, so we can understand why these stars would want to exit the area as soon as possible.
But what if they inconvenience even more people in that process?
Recently, a female star in China has come under fire for making passers-by exit an elevator so she could make a fast escape from the chaos.
According to a netizen, who posted an account of the incident on Xiao Hong Shu, she had boarded the elevator at the airport, presumably from the basement, to make her way to the fourth floor.
However, the doors opened at the first floor, and she was greeted by the sight of a throng of people with their phones and cameras in hand. They were surrounding a female celeb who was waiting to get into the elevator.
“All of us in the elevator were shocked. We didn’t know what was going on. That was when [the celeb’s] bodyguard shouted: “People in the elevator, get off first!”,” recounted the netizen.
She didn’t understand the reason for such a request, so she shot back: “Who are you? Why should I have to exit?”
According to the netizen, the other people in the elevator were just as infuriated.
Although she did not reveal the identity of the female star, the internet has been busy guessing.
Some presumed it was Cheng Xiao, while others believed it was Wu Xuanyi. Both stars were members of K-pop group WJSN, and are now active as solo artistes.
However, the girls’ agency, Yuehua Entertainment, has since released a statement to dispel the rumours.
“A number of netizens have named our artistes Cheng Xiao and Wu Xuanyi in the viral incident regarding a star putting on airs to board an elevator. After speaking to numerous parties, we’ve confirmed that the speculation is untrue.”
They firmly added that they have no connection to the star in question and the security team who were mentioned in the Xiao Hong Shu account.
What do you think of the situation? Does a celeb have the right to request people to get out of an elevator for their convenience, and would you willingly do so?
