“Dream Boss” Yang Mi Gives Staff “5 To 6-Figure” Bonuses, SK Ang Pows

Actress Yang Mi, 37, is undeniably one of the biggest stars in China.

She made her debut as a child actress in 1992 and is reportedly worth 5 billion yuan (S$1bil).

Last year, she left Chinese entertainment agency Jaywalk Studio, which she co-founded in 2013, to establish independent label, Shanghai Yangmi Film and Television Culture Studio.

When she was with Jaywalk, she was credited for propelling stars such as Dilireba and Zhu Xudan to fame.

Not only is she well loved by her showbiz juniors, she is a generous boss too.

Recently, a Chinese media site published a list of “showbiz’s God of Fortunes”, and among the big names were Li Bingbing, Hu Ge, and Yang Mi.

According to reports, Yang Mi’s staff would receive a “five to six figures” in end-year bonuses, and once even gave 200K yuan (S$38K) ang pows.

Yang Mi would also take them on overseas trips, and share the products she endorses with them.

Netizens were deeply touched by her generosity, dubbing her a “dream boss”.

If that’s not enough to convince you, perhaps this incident from 2012 will.

The China-based actress was scheduled to attend an event organised by luxury brand Dior in Hong Kong when her assistant lost her passport at the last minute.

Instead of blaming her assistant, Yang Mi took full responsibility for the mishap and posted a public apology on social media.

When asked about her willingness to promote the careers of newcomers, Yang Mi said: “The entertainment industry is akin to a huge plate [of food], and I can’t possibly finish everything alone. [It’s better to give] everyone the chance to shine and express themselves.”

“I’ve seen her accompanying staff wearing items from Loewe at the airport, they’re so lucky,” gushed one netizen.

Others also praised the star for being a “beautiful and generous boss”.
