Ex ‘90s VJ David Wu, 57, Who Is Now A Food Host On YouTube, Shares Why He Faded Out Of The Spotlight

We fondly remember Taiwanese American former VJ David Wu aka the Wu-Man as one of the most recognisable faces of the ‘90s.

He was a VJ (remember those?) on both MTV Asia and Channel V and was best known for his ability to switch effortlessly between English and Mandarin when hosting. That skill may seem common now but back in the ’90s, it was considered a rare feat and it made David a star.

He also acted in classic movies such as Temptress Moon and Full Throttle and even had a recurring role here on the Singapore Idol-fronted Mediacorp series, Shooting Stars, back in 2005.

David was said to have been popular with the ladies and reportedly romanced A-lister actresses Vicki Zhao and Kelly Lin back in his heyday though he has never come out to confirm any of the rumours.

Today, he is happily married to someone outside of showbiz and he became a father in 2020.

However, David has been relatively low-key in recent years, though he appeared in the Hou Hsiao-Hsien-produced drama, Twisted Strings alongside Sylvia Chang, and our very own Aileen Tan and Romeo Tan last year.
