Feuds between celebrities often turn uglier when one party chooses to take the matter onto social media.
That is what’s happening between Malaysian ex-Mediacorp actress Tong Bing Yu, 41, and Hong Kong actress Anita Chui, 36, right now.
Yesterday (Aug 20), Anita, who was Bing Yu’s co-star in 2016 Hong Kong-Malaysian film Special Female Force, took to her Instagram Stories to shame Bing Yu.
“Pay back the money you owe @tongbingyu” wrote Anita.
Anita then shared a screenshot of a conversation she had with Bing Yu.
Bing Yu had asked Anita in English: “What did you do now?”. The latter then responded with: “You’re a big liar. I have to expose you”.
When Bing Yu told her to “not challenge” their friendship, Anita accused her of “deceiving [her] money” as well as “hk [Hong Kong] people money”.
Anita also warned Bing Yu that she would be suing her “till the end” unless she gets her money back.
When Chinese media 8world reached out to Bing Yu, the actress shared that her lawyer is already looking into the matter.
“I can’t respond, because I want to take legal action,” she said.
“When you’re popular, many will try to take you down. But others will just look at this as a joke,” she added.
The same night, Bing Yu gave an official statement about the saga via her IG.
“It may be known to some that there were online social media postings made recently which contain misleading and inaccurate insinuation against actual facts and evidence, and may thus be found defamatory in nature,” read the statement.
Bing Yu also said she doesn’t have much to say about the incident, and will be leaving it to the professionals.
“I want to thank the media who allowed this to end on a good note, my friends who expressed concern immediately as well as my partners who believed in me unconditionally,” she wrote, adding that she’s doing very well and that there’s nothing others have to worry about.
