Harrison Yu, the 22-year-old son of Taiwanese stars Harlem Yu, 62, and Annie Yi, 56, graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University last Friday (May 17).
While they split in 2009 after eight years of marriage, Harlem and Annie co-parent Harrison, and have on several occasions, spoken publicly about supporting Harrison and his interests.
It comes as no surprise that Harlem and Annie were both in New York for Harrison’s graduation ceremony.
According to reports, Annie sat in the hall to watch the ceremony while Harlem opted to watch it via a screen outside the venue.
Harrison would later post pics with his parents on May 20 aka Chinese “I Love You Day”, with the caption: “520 and the [people] I love.”
Harrison’s set of photos with Harlem looked to be taken at Central Park. His snaps with Annie, on the other hand, featured the backdrop of Manhattan’s Meat Packing District.
Sadly, the trio did not reunite for a family photo.
In a long message dedicated to Harrison on Weibo, Annie wrote: “Today, you’ve graduated. The little girl in me has also graduated from university. As a mum, I’ve also graduated and accomplished many things in my role. Don’t blame mum for nagging, [but] you have to take care of your health, become a good knowledgeable and good person, and bring great things to this world.”
She also encouraged Harrison to face future challenges bravely, and urged him to remain kind while doing so.
Harlem, on the other hand, left a simple but sweet message for Harrison on Instagram.
He wrote: “My Harry Potter has graduated from Gryffindor College! From here on, he’ll embark on his magical journey! [We’re] a little nervous, yet filled with anticipation!”
