Yesterday (Dec 10), Taiwanese singer Vivian Hsu announced her split from her husband of nine years, Singapore-based businessman Sean Lee.
Vivian and Sean, who’s the chief executive of marine logistics company Marco Polo Marine, tied the knot in June 2014 and they have an eight-year-old son Dalton.
The former couple also posted a joint statement on the 48-year-old singer’s Instagram Stories, explaining the reason behind their divorce.
“We are grateful for each other’s dedication and growth throughout our marriage for the past nine years. We tried our best but were ultimately unable to overcome our differences,” they explained in their statement, which was written in Chinese.
They also asserted that they’ve decided to end their marriage amicably “after careful consideration and communication”.
While Vivian and Sean’s split may have come as a shock to many, famed Taiwanese tarot reader Ai Fei Er apparently saw it coming.
We’re not sure if you remember, but in 2021, Vivian was dragged into Taiwanese singer Wang Leehom’s infamous divorce saga after Leehom’s ex-wife Lee Jinglei accused him of having an affair with a woman she not-so subtly hinted was Vivian.
At that time, Sean defended Vivian, emphasising that he trusts her and would do anything to protect his then wife. He also urged the public to stop defaming Vivian and their family.
The scandal became a widely-discussed topic in the media, with everyone giving their two-cents worth. That included tarot reader Ai Fei Er, who predicted on variety show Super Lucky that while Vivian’s career would be able to withstand the scandal, the singer is likely to split from her husband within the next three years.
“A part of her marriage is already affected. There’s no way it can come out unscathed,” claimed Ai Fei Er back then.
Looks like he was really spot on?
