Felicia Chin Was “A Little Nervous” About Spending Time Alone With Mum-In-Law While Husband Jeffrey Xu Was Overseas

They say getting along with your mother-in-law can be tricky but lucky for ex-Mediacorp actress Felicia Chin, her husband Jeffrey Xu’s mum is so chill, they are basically friends.

In a recent video she posted on Instagram, the 39-year-old star shared that her mother-in-law, who lives in Shanghai, was recently in Singapore when Jeffrey was in Malaysia for work.

“Honestly, I was a little nervous at first. I had never spent time alone with my mom-in-law under one roof,” Feli confessed.

Thankfully, all her worries were unfounded.

“We had different convos, some more heartfelt, others really mundane stuff. I felt her support for Mingjie for the arts (since he was a kid) to be refreshing. So, am sharing some of her views with you!” wrote Feli.

What exactly did they talk about?

In the video, Feli first asked Jeffrey’s mum how did she nurture her son’s interest in acting and the sacrifices she had made to realise his dream.

Her response was: “Since young, Jeffrey has loved to perform. Be it singing or dancing, he started doing them by himself. I just wanted Jeffrey to grow up happy; As long as he has the ability to support himself, that was enough for me.”

Was Jeffrey’s mum ever worried that he wasn’t excelling in his studies?

“I’m very optimistic. If he thinks he can manage, I won’t force him to go for tuition or anything,” she said.

That then prompted Feli to ask: “Have you ever regretted supporting Jeffrey in pursuing his dreams?”

Her mum-in-law said: “Never, not even a single bit. As long as he’s willing to learn, I’m okay with whatever skill he chooses to pick up.”

Through Feli, Jeffrey also took this opportunity to ask his mum if she had any expectations of him.

“I just want him to be healthy and lead a blissful life with his wife, that will make me the happiest,” replied Jeffrey’s mum.
