Gigi Lai Shares Pic Of Her Wheelchair-Bound Brother Standing For The First Time In 5 Years

In the 2000s, Hong Kong former actress Gigi Lai, 52, was one of TVB’s brightest stars, appearing in hit dramas including War and Beauty (2004) and The Dance of Passion (2006).

She famously left showbiz in 2008 at the height of her career to care for her dermatologist younger brother, Stephen Lai, who met with a near-fatal accident and was left wheelchair-bound.

In that same year, Gigi took over Stephen’s skincare clinic business, and tied the knot with billionaire Patrick Ma, with whom she now has three daughters.

Gigi’s departure from showbiz was sudden, to say the least, and many of her fans have kept up with her social media pages to get updates about her life.

Earlier this week (Dec 20), Gigi posted a series of family photos taken at her brother’s birthday party. And the images were nothing short of moving.

Her simple caption read: “Happy birthday to my brother.” Gigi, Stephen, and their parents were in the photos, and the family of four looked happy to be celebrating the occasion together.

One of the photos saw Stephen standing between his parents. He was well-dressed for his special day, and looked to be in great condition.

It has been five years since Gigi last shared a pic of her brother standing, and netizens were all glad to witness his health take a turn for the better.

They were touched to see the obvious closeness within the Lai family, with many leaving supportive messages for both Gigi and Stephen.
