Christmas came early for Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee’s older Ryan, 17, who was one of the first students from his school to receive early admission offers from prestigious universities.
Ryan attends the prestigious Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CDNIS), known for producing International Baccalaureate (IB) top scorers and counts many celebrity children among its alum.
Last week, CDNIS shared a Facebook video celebrating its Class of 2025 students who have received early admissions to top universities, with Ryan prominently featured among them.
Ryan was seen in the video, celebrating with classmates after checking his email revealing his results. He jumped with excitement, high-fiving and hugging his peers.
“Congratulations to all our Class of 2025 Early Decision admits and good luck at NYU (Tisch and Stern), Barnard College, Boston University, Columbia, Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania (Jerome Fisher M&T),” read the post.
The school revealed that the 2025 cohort had received over 80 offers from top universities in Hong Kong, the UK, Canada, and the US. These offers spanned diverse fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, Arts, Business, Communication, Engineering, Law, Science, and Veterinary Medicine.
CDNIS’s tuition fees for the 2024-25 academic year range from HK$132K (S$23K) to HK$238.4K (S$41.5K) for Grade 12 students.
Hacken and his wife, Miss Hong Kong 1992 winner Emily Lo’s younger son, Rex, 15, also attends CDNIS.
Hacken previously shared that his sons have contrasting personalities.
Ryan inherited his father’s musical talent and once won third place in a piano solo competition at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival.
Meanwhile, Rex is more athletically inclined. He was named “Player of the Year” at his football academy and excels in chess, earning second place in a Chinese chess competition.
