Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau Tak-wah single-handedly takes on a bunch of vicious hijackers during a commercial airline flight in the mainland Chinese production High Forces, a bizarrely conceived, if also intermittently entertaining, action thriller directed by Oxide Pang Chun.
An unlikely opportunity to redeem himself arrives when Hao is assigned as the sole security officer on the maiden flight of a luxurious aeroplane that belongs to a financially struggling airline. Both Fu and Xiaojun happen to be flying business class on the same plane.
While the teenage Xiaojun remains disappointed with her now-estranged father, Fu is clearly still in love with Hao. But the expected family reunion is abruptly put off when a team of armed hijackers take over the cockpit and business cabin soon after take-off, and the air marshal is swiftly knocked out.
