HK News Channel Calls TVB Actor Him Law “HK Resident Mr Law” Like He’s Some Random Passerby

You would think every news outlet in Hong Kong would know who TVB actor Him Law is by now, given that he’s been in showbiz for 19 years and is, well, the husband of Tavia Yeung.

But we’re starting to question that after seeing this video shared by Xiaohongshu user Ha Li Po Te Bie Fan earlier this week.

In the video, HK broadcaster Phoenix Television had a feature on the city’s new pandas, An An and Keke, which were gifted by Beijing in September.

The clip went on to show an interview with Him, 40, who shared his experience visiting the pandas with his two children, Hera, four and Eden, two.

But what tickled Ha Li Po Te was how the news channel simply labelled Him as “Hong Kong resident Mr Law”.

“Why do I feel that this ‘citizen’ looks a lot like a certain celebrity?” asked Ha Li Po Te in his post.

He then asked if any of his reporter friends would know who this “regular resident” is while hashtagging Him’s Chinese name in the caption.

Netizens were just as amused by Phoenix Television’s blunder.

“The reporter from the station probably doesn’t watch the [entertainment] channel so they don’t know Hong Kong actors,” laughed one netizen.

Another netizen, however, argued: “I mean, he is indeed a Hong Kong citizen, so what’s the problem?”.

Well, guess there’s some truth in that?
