Hougang Temple Has Talisman Pasted On Water Dispenser To Get Holy Water

A temple in Hougang is getting some attention after 25-year-old part-time Taoist priest Li Zhitong showed a talisman plastered over a water dispenser

 “Mass-produced holy water?” he queried.

Well, we think it can’t hurt as Zhitong was seen gulping some and nodding in approval.

He even cheekily asked, “Can [we] burn one into the sea, so next time [there] will [be] no water ghosts”.

According to Taoist beliefs, spirits haunt the waters where someone drowned if their body is never recovered.

Wait a minute, we recall people needing to burn the talisman into ashes before drinking, right?

At least one netizen thought so, writing it off the water dispenser as a gimmick.

Between this and Labubu dolls appearing at a religious event, we think mass dispensing holy water isn’t that weird after all.

Of course, others were more tickled with a few asking if it really works, to which Zhitong replied, “I actually have no idea”.

Another even encouraged Zhitong to drink some to which he admitted that he took an entire bottle home.

Since it’s free, why not?
