Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur Bukit Jalil is now a pet-friendly hotel

If you’re a pet owner who always struggles with finding accommodations for you and your furkid in Kuala Lumpur, here’s a new option in town for you.

Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur Bukit Jalil (Hyatt Place KLBJ) has just announced its new pet-friendly policy. The hotel is now welcoming guests and their pet companions to experience a comfortable and enjoyable stay at their 250-room property.

The hotel claims to be the first city hotel to provide pet-friendly services in Bukit Jalil.

Bennett Peter, the hotel’s General Manager, said in a press release, “As an animal lover myself, I understand how important it is to find accommodations that welcome our pet family members.”

“I personally have and continue to rescue street cats and dogs at our home, and I know firsthand the joy and comfort they bring. We are thrilled to offer this new service and hope our guests and their pets enjoy a memorable stay with us.”

Unfortunately, due to the local customs and sensitivities, dogs are excluded from the hotel’s pet policy and are not permitted on hotel premises.

The hotel does not mention what pets specifically are allowed on the property, though. Presumably, they would likely welcome cats and perhaps rabbits or even reptiles.

Maintaining a welcoming environment for all

To ensure all guests are comfortable, the hotel does have some guidelines that pet owners must adhere to.

For one, pets are not permitted in restaurants, bars, swimming pool areas, and other common guest areas. Pets must be in their carriers at all times whenever they are in the hotel lobby (such as during check in/check out), the guest room floor corridors, and in the elevators.

Pets should be house-trained and weigh under 20 pounds or 9kg. A maximum of two pets per room or suite is allowed.

“We reserve the right to refuse pets that do not meet customary standards for house-trained, based on species, odour, aggressive or dangerous behaviour,” the release added.

Ultimately, the hotel has sole authority in determining if the pet is allowed to join the guest during the hotel stay.

Advance bookings of three working days must be made in the event that guests wish to bring a pet to the hotel. From there, the hotel will contact them to make arrangements. The hotel team will evaluate, verify, and confirm in writing if they are able to accommodate the guest and their pet for the stay.

For walk-ins with a pet that have not given advance notice to the hotel or received any confirmations, they will not be allowed to check in and will be evaluated on a case-to-case basis.

To ensure cleanliness and comfort for all guests, Hyatt Place KLBJ will also charge a one-time room cleaning fee. This will be based on the length of stay. Specifically, it will cost:

  • One to seven nights: RM400+
  • Eight to 14 nights: RM600+
  • 15 to 21 nights: RM800+
  • 22 to 30 nights: RM1,000+

The room cleaning service is conducted after guests’ departure.

Pet-friendly inside and out

Not only is the hotel now pet-friendly, its surroundings are also conducive to furry companions. According to the press release, Hyatt Place KLBJ is situated near several pet-friendly areas and services.

This includes the Bukit Jalil Recreational Park, which is just a short walking distance from the hotel. Featuring expansive green spaces, walking trails, and designated pet areas, this is a great place for pets and pet owners to visit.

Aside from the park, the hotel also claims to feature easy-access areas for quick walks should your pet require it.

There are also many veterinary clinics within the Bukit Jalil area, with the closest clinic to the hotel being Bukit Jalil Veterinary Clinic & Surgery, which is a five-minute drive away. The clinic is also open seven days a week, so weekend visits should not be a cause for concern.

Plus, the hotel is right next door to a large pet accessory store known as Hyper Pets, which carries all sorts of supplies for various pets.

An international level of hospitality

Looking up pet-friendly hotels in the city, there are a number of other properties in KL that do welcome furry pals.

In fact, Vulcan Post has stayed at one in the past—Capri by Fraser Bukit Bintang—albeit without a pet or having come across guests with pets.

However, many of these hotels are three-star locations that might not have the range of facilities or the appropriate pet-friendly surroundings that you’re looking for.

On the other hand, with more than 395 locations worldwide, Hyatt Place is a globally recognised hospitality brand, and its Bukit Jalil location is deemed a four-star hotel.

So, for pet parents looking for a place to stay the next time you’re in the city, don’t overlook this spot in Bukit Jalil.
