I Not Stupid 3 Will be Released on 6 June; MV Dropped on 6 May

I Not Stupid 3 will finally be hitting cinemas on 6 June with an exciting and adorable new cast.

The film’s release was announced on Facebook by producers mm2 Entertainment and J Team Productions on 6 May, a month in advance.

In the announcement, they also shared a new music video of the iconic theme song “Useful Person”, this time sung by the show’s new child actors and actresses who will be taking over the previous cast.

Jack Neo also posted the music video on his Facebook, saying, “I Not Stupid 3 is finally coming, sorry to keep you waiting!”

Asking if fans found the song familiar, Neo said he had the cast learn the song since their first day of joining the cast to give the song a “different feel”.

New Movie Will Make You Feel Nostalgic

It’s probably been many years (many decades, perhaps?) since you’ve had to collect a report card and show (or hide) it to your parents.

I Not Stupid 3 will take you on a walk down memory lane as you watch the young cast go through familiar stressful childhood experiences, letting you relive some of your youth during the movie.

From the music video, we can see the movie takes place in a primary school setting like the previous films.

The young cast go through experiences we’re all too familiar with, such as receiving exam results and getting disciplined by parents.

But don’t worry, the movie isn’t just about the sad parts of childhood because the cast are also seen having happy interactions with friends, parents, and teachers.

And, if you really watched the music video carefully, you would’ve spotted one of Singapore’s most popular heartthrobs: Singaporean singer-actor Glenn Yong.

Yong makes an appearance in I Not Stupid 3 with his first role as a teacher.

Cast Sourced From Video Auditions Last Year

Other then Yong, I Not Stupid 3 will see other familiar actors and actresses in its adult cast, including Terence Cao, Patricia Mok, Collin Chee, Jae Liew, and Xixi Lim, who just won her first ever Star Awards trophy last month.

The film’s child actors include Zhou Yuchen, Goh Wee-Ann, Jiang Songheng, and Huang Zhiyang.

The cast was finalised after an audition process that started in May last year, when Neo invited child and adult actors to submit video auditions.

The movie’s lensing ceremony was held the following month to bring luck for a smooth and successful shoot.

I Not Stupid 3 Comes 18 Years Later

Fans of Jack Neo had to wait a long time for I Not Stupid 3 as it has been 18 years since its sequel was released.

The first installation of the series came in 2002, about 22 years ago. The second movie was released four years later in 2006.

The two films were popular among locals due to their accurate portrayal of the stresses of Singapore’s education system and life as a student here.

Given that almost two decades have passed since I Not Stupid 2, the third movie will have a fresh and different feel from the first two, focusing on the current education system.

In a video on Facebook, Jack Neo said that those who watched or acted in the first two movies have all grown up, and some even gotten married and have their own kids now.

“They can now come and watch I Not Stupid 3 together with their children, I think it’s very meaningful,” said Neo.

Two Movies In Four Months

2024 has been a big year for Neo as I Not Stupid 3 isn’t his first movie this year.

Earlier this year, he also released Money No Enough 3 during the Chinese New Year period. The February film about post-pandemic financial woes starred Mark Lee, Henry Thia, and Neo himself.

On 17 April, J Team Productions announced that the movie had made $4.875 million at the box office in Singapore, officially surpassing Money No Enough 2.

I Not Stupid 2 Actress Passed Away Last Month

Local actress Ng Jingjing, whose real name is Ng Suan Loi, passed away last month.

She played Tom and Jerry’s grandmother in I Not Stupid 2.

Although she only entered the showbiz at the age of 60, she was known as a hardworking and tenacious actress who always gave her best in everything.

One of her more prominent appearances was when she played Si Shen in 2016 comedy Long Long Time Ago, yet another one of Jack Neo’s famous films.
