Yikes! What is local actor Zong Zijie’s skin made of?
“Actually, I forgot about the wound when I was showering yesterday, and I usually wash my face quite roughly…” he said to 8days.sg over the phone.
For context, the 28-year-old took to Instagram on Wed (Apr 10) to share that he had sustained a 10cm gash across his face while filming a scene for an upcoming drama.
“Someone had to hit me with a plastic folder and he suddenly missed and the sharp edge slice across my face,” he described.
As this writer grimaced at the visual, the NoonTalk Media actor assured us that it looks worse than it is, and he is still “alive and kicking”.
“I actually didn’t feel much pain at the start as I probably take injuries quite well,” said Zijie.
“In fact, I think I look quite badass now!” he laughed.
Was he worried he would be disfigured?
“No actually,” he said. “I don’t really care about the way I look, and I think it’s fine for a man’s face to not be ‘perfect’. Especially for such inevitable accidents, I believe we just have to deal with whatever situation life throws at us. Some might worry if I get a scar on my face, it would affect my career, but I believe there’s a reason for everything that happens.”
“Who knows, maybe a scar on my face makes me look more badass and I’ll get a breakthrough role.”
When probed, Zijie declined to name who the guilty co-star was.
“I think this accident boils down to luck. Xu Bin also had to be hit by the file, but I was the suay one,” he shared.
When we asked Zijie if he considers himself accident-prone, he agreed and blamed it on his garang personality.
While filming this drama, his co-star Gini Chang accidentally scratched him till he bled.
Interestingly, when asked which accident was more painful, Zijie had to take a moment to mull over his response.
“If we are talking about initial pain, Gini’s scratch was definitely more painful at the start,” he laughed.
