There’s no doubt that K-pop superstar G-Dragon, 36, is a fashion icon. He is the ambassador of luxury brand Chanel, owns fashion line Peaceminusone, and has collaborated with brands like jeweller Chow Tai Fook and Nike.
The rapper and singer-songwriter, who recently made his long-awaited comeback after a seven-year hiatus, attended the Chanel Cruise 2025 Show in Hong Kong earlier this week.
He arrived at the event dressed in a pink Chanel tweed jacket over a flowy floral top and black tee, bootcut black pants and sparkly gold shoes. He also accessorised his look with orange-tinted sunglasses and an equally eye-catching Chanel sling bag.
GD’s outfit has elicited fervent online discussion… but not in the best way.
Many commented that his outfit was giving “auntie fashion”.
“Is he cosplaying as an auntie?” asked one netizen, while another joked: “He looks like my grandma.”
One netizen even said GD was inspired by older female celebs like Chang Hsiao-yen and Lan Hsin Mei.
Even his airport ‘fit, which he wore en-route to Hong Kong, wasn’t spared from ridicule.
He had on a red cardigan, denim jeans, and a pink scarf over his cap, which netizens felt made him look like an ‘ahjumma’, or a middle-aged Korean woman.
We think it made him look more like a grass cutter.
Not very flattering, we know.
Some also pointed out that GD was “fidgeting uncomfortably” in front of the cameras.
It wasn’t all negative comments. Some are saying that these are looks that only he would be able to pull off.
Others also explained that GD has never been one to follow trends. Instead, he “wears whatever he likes” and his quirky behaviour was “nothing out of the norm”.
