Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao sure loves surprising his wife and manager Summer Lin on her birthday.
He proposed to Summer on her 50th birthday last year, and yesterday (Jun 27), Jam, who is currently in Hangzhou to perform in the musical Rouge, prepared an even grander gesture.
At midnight, Jam, 36, took to Weibo to wish Summer a happy birthday.
“Wishing my ‘Ah Zhu Gua’ a happy birthday. It’s been raining for more than 10 days in Hangzhou but thankfully it’s only drizzling now so our drone shots were successful,” he wrote.
(P/S: If you’re wondering what ‘Ah Zhu Gua’ means, we’ll explain in a bit.)
The singer also posted photos of his ginormous birthday gift to Summer — digital ads professing his love at six malls in Hangzhou.
The message on the billboards read: “June is ‘xia tian’, ‘xia tian’ is Summer [in Mandarin], Summer is Summer Lin, Summer Lin is Ah Zhu Gua (Silly girl). Today is Ah Zhu Gua’s birthday, I want to tell her: You’ll always be my Ah Zhu Gua, we will always be holding each other so tight.”
“Happy birthday, from your forever baby,” he gushed.
Jam also shared a video of Summer’s reaction when she saw the ads.
Looking at her husband’s corny messages from the car, Summer couldn’t help but feel slightly embarrassed.
“How could you post these words out for everyone to see. Is this appropriate? I’m a professional artiste manager, are you serious!” she laughed.
“People don’t even know what Ah Zhu Gua means,” argued Jam.
But when Summer pointed out: “Didn’t you add a parenthesis to say it means ‘Silly girl’,” Jam explained that he had no choice but to include it in the ad.
“I have to do it to get a permit, otherwise [the mall] wouldn’t approve the ads ‘cos they don’t know what it means,” he said
“It actually means you’re even sillier than silly,” he added, which got his wife cackling out loud.
While wiping her tears of joy from laughing too hard, Summer chided: “Jam Hsiao, can you at least give me some privacy?!”
