One would think restaurant owners would be eager to serve JJ Lin, but local chicken rice restaurant Chin Chin Eating House are too cool for that.
In a recent vlog for his JJ20 Final Lap world tour, the 42-year-old Singaporean pop star shared that he had specially made a trip to the Purvis St eatery just to have their chicken rice.
However, he was left disappointed the moment he got there.
“No more,” said an indifferent auntie to JJ when he gave his order.
JJ was told he had arrived too late as they had run out of chickens, to which the singer joked: “If I don’t get to eat chicken rice, I can’t sing”.
Now you’d expect the stall owner to be more empathetic towards the singer, who has long been called one of Singapore’s national treasures, but no.
“Come earlier tomorrow,” the auntie replied impassively.
In the end, JJ had to settle for pork ribs and cereal prawns.
Netizens were very amused by the insouciant staff at Chin Chin.
“Next time they can tell their future generations that they had rejected JJ Lin which led to him not being able to sing,” laughed one netizen.
