Homegrown Mandopop star JJ Lin kicked off the China leg of this JJ20 World Tour with a two-night show in Chengdu on March 9 and 10.
Though he came down with a fever and cold before his concert, the singer insisted on performing as he didn’t want to disappoint fans.
Before taking the stage, JJ, 42, apologised to fans through social media, and also admitted during the show that he wasn’t in the best condition.
While he managed to complete both shows, what you didn’t see were the struggles that went on behind the scenes.
Recently, JJ posted a YouTube video sharing moments from his Chengdu concert.
In the video, he revealed he had caught a cold some time before the concert and thought he had fully recovered.
But after arriving in Chengdu, he caught a chill again.
He was down with a fever on the day of the first show and could barely sing during rehearsals.
Fortunately, his condition improved after taking medication and he finished the show without a hitch.
However, the fever persisted the next day and did not improve after getting an IV drip.
JJ could barely hit the high notes during rehearsals and despite feeling extremely exhausted, he insisted on going ahead with the show.
During the mid-show break, he had to replenish his glucose levels and get a oxygen treatment in an ambulance backstage.
Even the star himself was surprised that he managed to finish the show.
