With retrenchments happening left, right, and centre, many are turning to job portals in search of opportunities.
But one particular job listing has caught the attention of netizens.
Posted by the Ling Jiou Shan Buddhist Society on the MyCareersFuture job portal, the listing was for the role of a nun, but what stood out was the pay.
A cool S$5K to $11K a month.
Who knew nuns were so highly paid?
At the time of writing, 10 applicants already have applied for the role.
And with the listing open until 30 March 2025, chances are, that number will climb.
The role comes with a hefty set of responsibilities. According to the job description, the successful applicant will be tasked to oversee training, religious programmes, and even workshops for the Buddhist society.
They will also provide mentorship and guidance to trainees and facilitators, all while developing an education curriculum.
And if you were thinking of making a career switch, here’s the catch: you must have at least 10 years of experience.
Unsurprisingly, the job posting sparked online chatter. One netizen shared a screenshot of the ad, captioning it, “My mother: No job, no partner, no money, how to survive? Me: Say no more.”
Another quipped, “Time to 出家 (become a monk or nun)!”
