Instead, it’s a about an alleged murder case.
Man Arrested for Alleged Murder of Fellow Hawker in Maxwell Food Centre
A 42-year-old male hawker was arrested by the police after allegedly stabbing a 48-year-old female hawker to death in a dispute believed to stem from financial issues following their business split.
The incident took place early Saturday morning (7 September) at Maxwell Food Centre.
The man was arrested at 1:36am.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the man involved, a Chinese national, operated a stall that sold Chinese-Thai food. The victim ran a nearby Thai food stall.
A hawker shared that the two had partnered about a year ago to start the Chinese-Thai food stall.
The victim had invested tens of thousands into the business. However, about a month ago, she decided to go her own way and opened another Thai food stall a few stalls away.
The victim allegedly didn’t get her investment back when she left that business, which may have sparked a conflict over money between them.
However, other hawkers said they had never seen the two argue publicly at the food centre.
One hawker mentioned that when they left the centre around 11 PM on Friday, everything seemed normal. It wasn’t until they returned at 7:30am on Saturday that they heard about the incident, by which time the body had already been removed.
The man will be charged in court on 8 Sept with murder.
