A 67-year-old was found dead in his Boon Keng HDB flat. His death had gone unnoticed by his tenants residing in the same flat.
Thankfully, the 67-year-old’s death was quickly discovered after a stall vendor at a nearby coffee shop and a friend of the deceased noticed that something was amiss — the 67-year-old did not turn up for his usual breakfast at the coffee shop that day. Concerned for the 67-year-old, they decided to check up on him at his flat.
67-Year-Old Man Found Dead in His HDB Flat; Friends Checked Up on Him After Realising He Did Not Go For His Usual Breakfast
On Friday (27 September), a 67-year-old man named Wong Kee Pin was found dead in his HDB flat at Block 2C Upper Boon Keng Road. Tenants residing in the same flat did not notice that the 67-year-old was dead.
So, if his tenants didn’t even notice the 67-year-old’s death, how was his death discovered?
According to Shin Min Daily News, a 51-year-old stall vendor at a nearby coffee shop, Ms Wu, noticed that the deceased did not head to the coffee shop for his usual breakfast that morning. The deceased was a regular at the coffee shop — he would visit the coffee shop for his morning kopi before heading off to Changi Airport for work and would swing by the coffee shop for drinks after work as well.
It seems like he was a creature of habit. As such, Ms Wu found it strange when she realised that the 67-year-old was nowhere to be seen in the coffee shop that morning.
She decided to give the 67-year-old a call, but all these calls went unanswered.
Later, around 8 am, a friend of the deceased decided to head to his flat to check up on him. Standing outside the deceased’s flat, all his friend heard was the sound of the deceased’s ringtone going off, but no one was picking up the phone.
Concerned for the 67-year-old’s safety, Ms Wu and the deceased’s friend decided to call the police. To their horror, the 67-year-old was found dead in his bed.
Preliminary investigations reveal that there was no foul play. However, investigations are still ongoing.
Deceased Had Four Siblings; Two of Which Have Already Passed Away
According to the tenants residing in the deceased’s flat, the deceased had four siblings — three sisters and a brother.
The tenants also shared that based on their knowledge, two of the deceased’s siblings, his third sister and his brother, had already passed away.
