While most people will slow down from working after being discharged from any medical procedure, it seems veteran actor and Love 972 DJ Marcus Chin has thrown himself right back in.
Since leaving the hospital last Thursday (Oct 10), the 71-year-old has been left, right, and center, hosting live streams on Facebook while still attending events and performances.
In fact, our editor even bumped into Marcus and his girlfriend walking around Tiong Bahru Plaza and having coffee at Toast Box the day he got discharged.
All this even as he readies to go for another operation next week (Oct 22).
Previously, the popular comedian said he would be “taking a week or two off” before returning to work.
According to a statement from his talent agency King Kong Media, Marcus had been advised to rest and put everything on hold for a month.
While promoting his new book, ‘Singapore Getai’ during a live stream yesterday (Oct 16), someone asked after his health to which Marcus gave a candid response.
“Having the books just displayed at the publisher is useless. They need to be promoted, or people won’t go to the bookstore to buy them,” he said.
He then reassured everyone not to worry and went on to share that he will still go ahead with his live streams this Saturday and Sunday (Oct 19 and 20)
“Live streaming is very easy; you just stand or sit there and talk for an hour,” says Marcus.
Marcus was first rushed to the National University Hospital (NUH) after suffering a heart attack early last week (Oct 7).
He then underwent a coronary stenting procedure on the same day as he was diagnosed with coronary artery disease caused by blocked arteries.
While in the hospital last week, Marcus posted a video to share about his sudden illness and how he didn’t even know he had heart disease.
“The mistake was that I didn’t have a health check-up every year. At this age the ‘parts’ are probably nearing their expiration date,” he joked.
He also revealed that he has to undergo surgery on October 22 as one of his blood vessels supplying oxygen to his heart is still slightly blocked.
Marcus then assured his followers that he would rest for about two weeks before returning to work.
