Matilda Tao Was Picking Up Dog Poop When Husband Li Liren Won Best Supporting Actor At The Taipei Film Awards

If your husband was up for an award at the prestigious Taipei Film Awards, you’d probably be glued to the TV waiting to see the results.

But for Taiwanese host Matilda Tao, she had more important things to do.

The 54-year-old host recently took to Facebook to congratulate her husband, Taiwanese actor Li Liren, 50, for his Best Supporting Actor win at the annual awards ceremony.

The Taipei Film Awards 2024 took place at the Taipei Zhongshan Hall on Saturday (Jul 6).

“When my husband was receiving his Taipei Film Awards trophy, I was walking my dog and picking up ‘gold'” she revealed. ‘Gold’ in this instance is. of course, dog poop.

Matilda also addressed what happened when her husband phoned her in front of the media scrum after his win.

During a post-ceremony interview, Liren tearfully told reporters that he really wished to call his wife before proceeding to FaceTime Matilda.

When Liren turned the phone for everyone to see, Matilda, whom we now know was walking her dog at that time, exclaimed: “I have no make-up!” before cussing out loud.

“When he video called me in front of the reporters, I flustered and shouted ‘k**p**’ because I had no make-up on, I’m really sorry about that,” she explained.

She went on to thank all those who’ve helped her husband, whom she described as “a great actor”, throughout his acting career.

“He always does his best and cherishes everything [he’s got]/ Our daughter [Dou Dou, 18] was by his side when he got his award, daddy must be feeling so happy,” she gushed.

The host also shared that after walking her dog, she immediately rushed to do her make-up and thankfully managed to make it for Liren’s celebration dinner.
