Motorcyclist Injured in Accident at Woodlands Viaduct, Netizens Argue Over Who’s at Fault

Given the high volume of traffic at the Woodlands Checkpoint and viaduct, it’s important to be extra careful there to avoid an accident.

This is especially true if you’re on a motorcycle, statistically the most dangerous vehicle to use on the road.

Motorcyclist Injured in Woodlands Viaduct Accident

8world News reported that the police stated they received a report about the supposed crash at 3:10 pm on 17 August.

The accident occurred on the Woodlands Checkpoint viaduct between a motorcycle and a Mercedes-Benz.

The Facebook page “Singapore roads accident.com” posted several photos of the accident. Unsurprisingly, the motorcyclist came out of the alleged collision worse.

One photo showed the motorcyclist, dressed in black, lying on the road next to his fallen motorcycle while blood leaked from his mouth. A fellow rider attended to him.

Another photo showed the Mercedes, which had stopped behind the fallen motorcyclist.

Notably, its left rearview mirror had been broken off, presumably being the point of impact or at least near that area.

Behind it, the long line of traffic waiting to enter the Woodlands Checkpoint gawked at the scene.

In another photo, a paramedic could be seen preparing a stretcher for the injured motorcyclist.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) stated that they took the 20-year-old motorcyclist to the hospital conscious.

Netizens Throw Blame Without Any Evidence

Police investigations are ongoing and the details about the Woodlands viaduct accident itself are completely unknown outside of that.

That didn’t stop netizens in the comments section from attempting to win the “leaping to conclusions” Olympic event.

They quickly threw the blame on the motorcyclist, pitying the Mercedes driver and saying that the motorcyclist was taught a “great lesson.”

Another commenter went the opposite way and started ranting about Mercedes drivers being selfish and reckless like one of them had personally killed the commenter’s dog.

A rare netizen with a functioning brain noted that the accident appeared to have occurred on the motorcycle lane, as indicated by the partially obscured word on the road in one of the images.

As such, they leaned more towards the Mercedes being at fault.

They urged Singaporean netizens to “use common sense” when commenting.

Good luck with that.
