We all love receiving ang baos during Chinese New Year but have you ever received one from a stranger on public transport?
Earlier today, Malaysian content creator Wei Chung, who’s working in Singapore, shared a video of a sweet encounter he had on the train.
A man was seen walking up to Wei Chung with a stack of red packets in his hand.
When asked if he was willing to be filmed, the uncle politely declined before asking Wei Chung to choose an ang pow from the stack he was holding.
The uncle then asked: “Can we take a photo together” and proceeded to take a selfie with Wei Chung.
Wei Chung eventually chose the red packet with the words “To have boundless prospects” written on it and thanked the uncle before getting off the train.
“My birthday is in January so he gave me an ang pow. He also wants to give his blessings to everyone,” said Wei Chung later.
Though the red packet did not seem to contain any cash, netizens were still touched by the uncle’s warm gesture, with many quipping that they want to bump into him on the train too.
“I’m born in January as well, I also want to meet the uncle and get an ang pow,” said one netizen.
Another gushed: “The uncle is too nice, next time I will take the MRT at this timing too.”
