When it comes to kids, the more the merrier, at least for Malaysian couple, Shamsuri Shafie, 39, and Rosnaida Ismail, 38.

The couple, who previously went viral for having 11 children, welcomed their 12th child, a boy, on Jun 25.

They now have seven sons and five daughters, with the oldest child aged 19. The age gap between each kid is one to two years.

The family garnered attention last year after Shamsuri, an Islamic medical practitioner, shared snaps of his brood on TikTok.

According to New Straits Times, Shamsuri is extremely grateful for the birth of his new son, and is thankful that his wife had a smooth delivery.

“My wife and I aren’t the only ones delighted by the birth of our child. Our other children are also thrilled to have a baby brother,” said Shamsuri.

He added: “I want to thank my wife for the sacrifices she has made to give birth to our baby. It’s not easy to find a wife who is so resilient, loving, gentle, and responsible. She [gives me] strength and emotional support.”

If you’re wondering, the couple are open to having more kids in future as they believe that “children are a gift from Allah”.

Shamsuri, who grew up in a large family with 13 siblings, said kids have also strengthened the bond between him and his wife.

The couple received many congratulatory messages from netizens, with many agreeing that “children are indeed a blessing”.

Shamsuri and his wife tied the knot in 2005 when they were both in college and university respectively. They were still students when they had their first three kids.
