Netizen Finds Bird Nesting In Bathroom After She Returned Home From Overseas Trip

Imagine coming home from an overseas trip, only to discover you’ve unexpectedly gained a new pet.

That’s exactly what happened to Chinese Xiaohongshu user, Ah Hua, after a five-day business trip. Ah Hua, who appears to be living in Sri Lanka, entered her bathroom to find a bird had built its nest in an empty wall-mounted soap dish in the shower.

Shocked, Ah Hua shared a video of the bird online, asking: “What species of bird is this? It has completely taken over my bathroom.”

What’s even more surprising was the bird, which some netizens reckoned could be a cuckoo or blackbird, wasn’t alone — it was nestling a small egg, no larger than half the size of a human palm.

So how did the bird find its way into Ah Hua’s bathroom?

Apparently, Ah Hua had left a window open when she was away.

In her post, she shared a pic of the view outside the window, revealing she often sees various species of birds, including parrots, perched on a nearby utility pole.

It seems the bird had found a perfect spot to make its home while Ah Hua was away.

Her post quickly gained attention, and before long, neighbours came over to check out the nest.

In an update, Ah Hua revealed she has given up her bathroom for the time being so as not to disturb the bird.

“I was only curious as first,” she wrote. “But I have since locked [the bathroom]. I hope the baby bird will hatch soon.”

Netizens praised Ah Hua for not disturbing the bird and some suggested she avoid touching the nest as it could cause the bird to abandon her egg.

We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for updates and snaps of the chick.
