Usually when people say you resemble a celebrity, the first reaction would be to feel flattered.
That didn’t seem like the case for local actress Rachel Wan when netizens commented on her IG that her boyfriend, ex-Mediacorp actor Edwin Goh, 29, reminded them of a certain star.
The 27-year-old, who started dating Edwin when they were filming 2023 most-watched Mediacorp drama Strike Gold, recently shared a screenshot of comments netizens left on one of her TikTok videos.
“I posted this on TikTok a few weeks back and then never checked on it. Today I find out it’s been going viral and has literally hundreds of comments saying [Edwin] looks like Mark Lee,” she said in her Instagram Stories.
Mention Mark Lee to any Singaporean and obviously the first person who comes to mind is the Golden Horse-nominated local comedian right?
It’s why, in her next story, Rachel shared a photo of Mark Gor. “I was so confused. You mean, Singapore’s Mark Lee?” she wrote.
Rachel quickly realised her blunder.
“Then I found out, they were referring to this Mark Lee,” she revealed in another Story, this time sharing a photo of South Korean boyband NCT’s member Mark Lee.
Ah, now it makes so much more sense.
Don’t get Rachel wrong though, we’re sure she didn’t mean to imply there’s anything wrong with looking like Mark Gor. She probably just couldn’t see any resemblance.
Edwin would repost Rachel’s story with Mark Gor’s photo. He wrote: “Even if it’s [Mark Lee], it’s also my honour” while tagging the local actor.
