Nicholas Tse Criticised For Using Processed & Packaged Food For Cooking Challenge

Over the past decade, Hong Kong star Nicholas Tse, 44, has transformed himself into a force in the in the culinary field.

After starring in his own food travelogue show Chef Nic, he went on to start a cookie bakery, launched a lifestyle and food line, and received the ‘Friend of Michelin’ award twice.

Nic recently took to his brand Feng Wei’s (锋味) Xiaohongshu page to take on a cooking challenge that involves him preparing a “feast” in 15 minutes.

He started by placing pre-packaged chicken wings and sausages from his brand into an air-fryer. He then moved on to boil pasta, and while waiting for it to be ready, placed soup dumplings into a bamboo steamer to cook.

After that, he pan-fried a piece of chicken chop from his own product line and was super detailed with his instructions, emphasising that it only needs “a drop of oil” to cook.

He then demonstrated his multi-tasking skills, heating up luncheon meat slices in the same pan while cooking the chicken chop.

While he appeared to prepare all eight dishes within 15 minutes, the video did little to convince the public of his cooking prowess.

Many criticised him for using pre-packaged food, which they said is unhealthy and also cheating.

Some left sarcastic comments saying that what he whipped up “really did not take any skill”.

“If they’re all pre-packaged and processed, you might as well just eat instant noodles,” read one comment, while another comment went: “Please just return to singing.”

Well, he didn’t say he was preparing a nutritious feast right?
