While it is common to hear Singaporeans in university complain about how much they need to mug for school, it seems overseas students are feeling even more pressure.
“Singapore university is hard!” exclaimed NTU exchange student Martin Ruzicka, who hails from the Czech Republic.
“All those study videos I make, it’s true, it’s true. I study every day. But it’s still not enough,” explained the 19-year-old.
According to Martin’s social media, he graduated from the International Baccalaureate (IB) program before coming to Singapore. He was placed in the top 0.2% of his cohort.
“I’m currently manifesting my academic comeback. Because I just put an all-nighter doing all my assignments,” he said.
“But these Singaporean kids…” he trailed before comforting himself, saying: “At least I will be employable.”
Aww… Did Martin just compliment his local classmates?
A quick check online revealed that Martin is also a part-time model with local agency, Upfront Models, and we wonder if he has been attending one too many post-event parties?
However, it seems many netizens agreed with Martin’s take on university in Singapore and offered words of encouragement.
One hilariously commented: “Welcome to Singapore!” while another wrote, “Not just university, but every year of your education from the age of seven.”
Would Martin have felt differently if he started school in Singapore at the age of seven?
