INDONESIA: Presidential and vice-presidential candidate number two, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, conducted a major campaign event at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium on Saturday (10 Feb).
The atmosphere at GBK was electric, as supporters filled the stadium, creating queues at various entrances since 10:00 am.
The majority of supporters arrived in groups, adorned in light blue campaign accessories, showcasing their enthusiasm for pair number two.
Flooding the GBK stands and field, displaying their allegiance with support attributes and flags of the coalition party.
Volunteers added vibrancy to the campaign by carrying large balloons shaped like Prabowo-Gibran cartoons.
To ensure the event’s security, a noticeable presence of police and security officers was observed both inside and outside the GBK complex.
Patrols were conducted throughout the GBK complex area to maintain order.
In addition to the energetic crowd, prominent figures from the coalition party, including Titiek Soeharto, Zulkifli Hasan (General Chair of the National Mandate Party), Agum Gumelar, Hatta Rajasa, Wiranto, and Yusril Ihza Mahendra, were in attendance.
The campaign not only drew political figures but also attracted various artists who contributed to the lively atmosphere.
Not confined to the confines of GBK, supporters spilled into the surrounding areas outside the stadium, expressing their unwavering support, even though they were unable to enter the main location.
Prabowo-Gibran campaign highlights unity and prosperity goals for Indonesia
Vice-presidential candidate number two, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, made a notable entrance onto the main campaign stage, riding an Indonesian-made electric motorbike alongside his wife.
Following this, a video detailing Prabowo’s biography played, and Prabowo himself emerged in the campaign arena, proceeding to walk onto the main stage.
The event commenced with a collective rendition of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, joined by supporters gathered at GBK, followed by a joint prayer.
Subsequently, presidential candidate number two addressed the audience, expressing gratitude to the attendees who had traveled from afar and extending thanks to viewers nationwide tuning in to witness the grand campaign event for candidate pair number two.
“I, along with Gibran, as well as the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, express our highest appreciation for the sacrifices and presence of the supporters this afternoon,” he remarked.
In his speech, Prabowo emphasized that the Prabowo-Gibran pair, along with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, was dedicated to eradicating poverty in Indonesia and striving to bring prosperity to all its citizens.
“We are fighting to bring prosperity to all Indonesian people,” he affirmed.
Additionally, Prabowo pledged to continue the legacy of past presidents and acknowledged the contributions of those who had worked for the Indonesian people.
Emphasizing Indonesia’s greatness, with a profound heart, soul, and morals, Prabowo urged against the nation becoming divided.
He stressed the importance of maintaining unity, fostering a collaborative atmosphere, and supporting one another.
Furthermore, he asserted the commitment of Prabowo-Gibran and the Advanced Indonesia Coalition to safeguard the nation’s wealth for the benefit of all citizens.
“If Prabowo-Gibran is elected on 14 February, then we will be president and vice president for all the Indonesian people, including those who chose number one and three,” he concluded.
Prabowo-Gibran pledge free school lunches and unwavering commitment to serve Indonesia
In his address, Prabowo highlighted a key initiative advocated by him and Gibran, emphasizing their commitment to providing free lunches for all Indonesian children.
“We will provide lunch for all Indonesian children,” he asserted unequivocally.
Notably, Prabowo-Gibran expressed their unwavering dedication to this cause, with Prabowo stating, “Prabowo-Gibran will not hesitate, we will provide lunch for Indonesian children.”
He added a condition for potential cabinet members, stating that anyone aspiring to be in his cabinet must agree to the provision of lunches for children.
Concluding his speech, Prabowo shared a poignant quote from a young man who perished in the 1946 Tangerang battle: “We are not alone, thousands of people depend on us.”
This quote underscored the collective responsibility felt by the nation.
Moreover, he reiterated the commitment of Prabowo-Gibran to wholeheartedly serve the Indonesian people, emphasizing their devotion to the welfare and betterment of the nation.
