You know that feeling when you watch a video and you seriously can’t tell if it’s a joke or for real?
That’s how many netizens felt after watching one of Singaporean content creator Nicole Liel’s recent TikToks.
In the video titled: “nepo-baby friend who only stays in bungalow takes HDB lift for the first time”, the 26-year-old was seen waiting for a lift in a public flat with her friend Nana.
According to Nicole’s other videos, Nana is her “bestie” who quit her full time corporate job to help Nicole manage her clothing brand likelyliel.
Nana first looked apprehensive and nervous when Nicole told her: “You need to [press the lift]”. She then replied: “It’s dirty”.
When Nicole’s boyfriend eventually pressed the button for Nana, the latter gave a look of shock before asking: “Do you want to sanitise your hands?”
In the lift, Nana also used an umbrella to press the buttons because she’s “scared of germs”.
She said that she was feeling scared as the lift “feels unstable”. Yet she refuses to hold on to the grab bars in the lift to help her balance.
“No it’s okay, I don’t want to touch that,” she told Nicole while looking slightly uncomfortable to be in the public lift.
As it was never clarified if the video was meant to be satire, some netizens were quick to slam Nana for her ‘princessy’ behaviour.
Many also remarked that they “can’t tell if this is a joke or not”, as a quick glance at Nana’s profile does suggest she lives in a landed house.
“It’s public space, if you are sooooo hygienic, go back to your home and sleep, don’t go out anymore,” snarked one such netizen.
Another said: “This PMO (pisses me off). If you scared then stay home lah”.
This is, in fact, not the first time Nicole has posted such videos of Nana.
In a previous video titled “actual conversations I have with my out of touch ultra mega rich billionaire friend”, Nana was labeled a “spoiled brat” by a netizen for saying that she always turns on the air-con as she doesn’t have a fan at home.
Nicole also shared another video about Nana’s “first time taking budget air”.
In said video, Nana made the comment: “Budget but take Dior bag” after seeing the lady in front of her carry a Dior Oblique Jacquard sling bag.
Netizens were livid at that remark, with one scorning: “What’s wrong? Budget cannot carry Dior? Stuck up much?”
Nana was also seen praying before their Jetstar flight took off, which did not sit well with a netizen.
“FYI Jetstar is awarded first rank for safety among low cost carriers for so many years in a row. It’s so icky to see you pray just to be safe on a Jetstar flight,” said the netizen.
Now our question is, since it’s most likely satire, why did Nana agree to be in these videos?
We mean, why would anyone deliberately subject herself to unnecessary hate?
