Seven-Year-Old Singaporean Boy Dies After Drunk Malaysian Lorry Driver Crashes into Family Car in Johor Bahru






A tragic collision between a Singapore-registered car and a Malaysian-registered lorry in Johor Bahru resulted in the death of a 7-year-old boy who was thrown from the vehicle.

The 57-year-old lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

The accident occurred on Sunday (16 Mar 2025) at around 10:30 PM on a stretch of Jalan Pantai heading toward Perling.

According to photos and videos circulating on social media, the crash involved a Singapore-registered car and a Malaysian-registered lorry.

The lorry apparently lost control before crashing into the car. The impact was so severe that the right side of the car was crushed, with shattered windows and windshield, creating a horrific scene.

The Johor Bahru South Police Headquarters issued a statement on Facebook at 9:49 AM on Monday (17 Mar 2025), confirming that five people were in the Singapore car.

Four were Singaporeans – a couple and their children – while the fifth person was an Indonesian woman, believed to be their domestic helper.

The crash caused a 7-year-old boy to be thrown from the car. The family was rushed to the hospital, but the boy died from his injuries around 3 AM on Monday.

Police also reported that the 57-year-old lorry driver tested positive for methamphetamine. He has been arrested and is currently being investigated for driving under the influence of drugs, drunk driving, and driving without a license.
