Shawn Yue Criticised For Looking Like A “Middle-Aged Uncle” In Stage Comeback

Hong Kong star Shawn Yue may be known for acting in films like Infernal Affairs IILove In A Puff trilogy, as well as his streetwear brand Madness, but did you know he was once a singer?

He released several albums, with the last Not A Star in 2011.

The 43-year-old recently returned to the stage to perform at a Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival event.

While some netizens were thrilled to see him perform again, others were more focused on his looks and not in the way you were expecting.

There were comments about how he’s “gained a lot of weight” and that the former heartthrob looks more like an uncle now.

“He sounded out of tune, appeared bloated and walked with a slight limp — he’s now a ruggedly handsome middle-aged uncle,” posted a netizen along with a clip of his performance.

While we agree that Shawn’s singing left much to be desired, he looked pretty dapper in the smart suit, no?

Others also likened him to former TVB star Marco Ngai, who previously put on so much weight that he was unrecognisable, and this Chinese actor, Zhang Fu Gui, who is known for his role as Xi Yang Cai in comedy 72 Households.

Um, okay.
