Fans of Asian cinema would be familiar with Hong Kong film legend Chow Yun Fat, 69, but did you know that he has a famous sister too?
Formerly an entertainment reporter, elder sis Chow Chung Ling, 77, is an avid photographer who is highly respected in Hong Kong’s photography circles.
She has a penchant for shooting flowers, animals and insects, and has held exhibitions.
Recently, Chung Ling made headlines after a report showed her “sleeping in a park”.
In the snaps, Chung Ling, dressed in mismatched clothing, can be seen dozing off on a park bench. Beside her was an overfilled shopping bag.
The report suggested that Chung Ling was sleeping in a public space because she has run into financial trouble.
It also questioned why she does not receive help from her famous brother, who is reportedly worth HK$5.6 billion (S$957mil).
Many sharp-eyed netizens noted that although Chung Ling was dressed casually, the camera she was holding is “quite pricey.”
They also argued that she would not pursue photography if she was facing financial difficulties.
While Fat Gor did not comment on the report, Chung Ling later clarified that the photos were taken out of context and that she was merely resting on the bench after rushing to capture some important shots.
“I am fully capable of working and do not need to rely on anyone. I’m very proud of being self-sufficient,” said Chung Ling.
She further revealed that Fat Gor had bought homes for each of his three siblings, and everyone was grateful to him, acknowledging he had no “obligation” to do so.
