While most people would just chiong down the bus into the bus stops for shelter when it rains, the lucky passengers on this particular SMRT bus ride did not have to go through that.
Recently, netizen Vanny took to Instagram to dedicate a post to a “kind bus driver uncle” she met while taking bus number 972M, a line that serves those living in Choa Chu Kang.
“Sorry for taking videos uncle, but I was truly touched by his kind actions I wanted to share and give some praise,” wrote Vanny.
She shared earlier that day, she was waiting at a traffic light drenched in rain while by-standers with umbrellas stood by nonchalantly.
“Not that I am entitled to be offered but I would have asked [to share] if I saw someone else being drenched in rain without an umbrella,” she said.
It’s why Vanny was so moved when she witnessed how the bus captain went out of his way to shelter his passengers from the pouring rain.
“When this kind bus uncle opened up a brolly for his passengers [boarding and alighting from the bus], it warmed my heart. Thank you for your kindness,” wrote Vanny.
She also thanked the bus captain for creating a “heart-warming end” to her 2024.
It appears that many netizens too have benefitted from this bus captain’s kindness.
“This bus driver never fails to greet every passenger as they enter the bus. He’d say ‘bye’ to me as well when I alight,” shared one netizen.
Even a passenger who’s not from Singapore vouched for the uncle’s big heart.
“Salute to this awesome uncle driver. He also did this when I visited Singapore for a vacation and out of a sudden it started raining when I was about to reach my destination,” they shared.
The netizen said the bus captain asked them to wait for him to open an umbrella as he didn’t want them to get wet.
Someone give this guy a medal already.
