The cause of death of South Korean singer Park Bo-ram has been revealed. On Thursday (May 23), Namyangju Nambu Police Station announced that the 30-year-old died due to alcohol poisoning. It was previously reported that on the day of her death on Apr 11, Park had been drinking with two of her friends at one of their houses when she went to the bathroom.
When she did not come out, her friends checked on her and found her unconscious around 9.55pm. Park was taken to the hospital but died around 11.17pm.
According to the final autopsy report from the National Forensic Service (NFS), Park Bo-ram died from acute alcohol poisoning which usually happens when one consumes a great amount of alcohol within a short period of time.
Park was also suffering from liver cirrhosis and fatty liver disease – the former being the same condition that took her father’s life in 2010.
The singer gained recognition after appearing on the Mnet audition show Superstar K2 in 2010, and made her official debut with the song Beautiful in 2014.
Some of her songs include Sorry, Celepretty and Dynamic Love. Notably, she was also in the OST for the 2015 K-drama Reply 1988 with the song Hyehwadong.
Park’s funeral was attended by many former contestants of Superstar K2 as well as figures from South Korea’s entertainment industry including Kara member Youngji and actress Go Eun-ah.
