S’pore Influencer’s BF Spent K on Proposal Video But It Was “Drowned” by Videographers’ Shouting Instead

Imagine one of the most beautiful days of your life.

Think of your proposal, as your partner is now making a commitment to you. Imagine the plans you make, the romance in their eyes as they speak of love and joy and a BTO somewhere in Bidadari so you two can build a home.

Imagine beautiful lights, rose petals, a crowd of cheering friends as the most beautiful ring gets slid on your finger, the glint of the stone catching the light. It’s the most beautiful thing in the world. You’re planning to cry, tears streaming down your face like your favourite heroine in a Korean drama—

“EH I’M TAKING THE WIDE SHOT, WIDE SHOT AH—”

Ah. Right. You’re being filmed, and the director has chosen to ruin the moment by doing his job.

Why did they have to do so in such a flat, Singaporean accent?

A proposal gone wrong?

That was what happened to Singapore influencer Julynn Lau, a Twitch streamer and gamer with a following of 110K on Instagram.

The woman shared her experience with an unnamed video production company, which had been hired to capture the moment her now-fiance, Benjamin Loh, proposing to her on the beach.

Amidst candles, fairy lights, actual drones spelling out Marry Me? on the beach, Lau and Log were also subjected to loud, droning directions from the production company who were directing the initial shoot, with comments such as, “CANNOT SEE THE DRONES” and “I SHOOTING, I SHOOTING” overheard during the video.

The loud director’s commentary had unfortunately drowned out the initial speech Loh had when popping the question for Lau, and Lau later shared that Loh had to redo the voiceover afterwards for the final proposal video.

Lau posted the raw footage of the initial proposal video with the voices of the video production company loudly directing the couple and the different shots.

“POV: your photographer thinks she’s the main character of the proposal and missed the most important part of the engagement,” Lau captioned, along with a facepalm emoji and an emoji of one huffing in anger.

In the video, it was also mentioned that Loh had spent almost $4,000 for this.

Netizens were full of sympathy and rage for the couple in question, with many calling out the video production company for their lack of professionalism and sensitivity for talking over the couple’s proposal, ruining one of the most intimate things in their young lives.

“Get a refund, this is so unprofessional!” Instagram user @ladyniril urged.

Other netizens urged Lau to drop the name of the video production company in question, so that other couples could steer away from the company for future proposal and engagement videos.

Over in TikTok, there’s a drama involving property agents that’s caused by us. Here’s what happened:
