Local property agent Haziq (haziq.homes on TikTok) recently posted a video explaining why he would “never buy a house beside a school”.
While families with young children might consider the location ideal, Haziq, who had a viewing at a Simei flat facing Metta School, said: “Personally I don’t like the unit because I know units that are in front of schools, at night, it gets very very creepy when your living room window is [directly facing the classrooms].”
He added that it might be fine if one lives on a higher floor as they’re overlooking the school instead of looking into it.
However, he believes those on the lower floors might potentially see “flickering lights”, or worse, “figures or any shadows”, when they look over.
“My personal take: I would never buy in front of a school, but that’s up to you lah,” he concluded.
Some netizens agreed with Haziq, with a few saying they live in units facing a school and have experienced creepy encounters like the ones he mentioned.
However, there were also a number of netizens who find it hard to believe that all schools are haunted, with some saying they are generally more bothered by the noise made by students during the day.
“My house facing school… no problem leh… it’s the school or yourself?” read a comment. To that, Haziq replied: “High chance myself.”
Others also provided an easy solution to Haziq’s worries: “Buy high floor lah. Why buy low floor.”
Are you superstitious enough to heed his warning?
