It seems it is not only American singer Taylor’s grandmother that has a Singapore connection.
20-year-old Nat Lopez has been revealed to be behind @twifterastour, one of the biggest Taylor Swift fan accounts on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Fine, that Singaporean connection may be a little far-fetched but hey, it means something right, especially for someone who has more than 816K following his every tweet.
Launched on November 1, 2022, @twifterastour works on keeping fans updated on every titbit of news about the Eras Tour, updating in real time the ongoings of each concert.
In an interview with People.com, Nat says he would sometimes secretly update the account under the desk when he is in school though admits it is rare.
He goes on to credit his followers who send tips, photos and notes about which celebs were in the VIP tent.
Nat also says that he “loves staying organised” though “the first few shows [were] a real mess for [him].”
“No one knew what was happening. No one knew that we were going to keep getting new outfits or surprise songs,” says Nat in the interview.
We are sure after 152 shows, Nat has become quite a pro though the later shows have raised some difficulties for for him.
“Surprise songs are the most hectic time for me because I got to update the outfit, song, album, whatever she’s saying, all in like mere seconds,” he says.
The super Swiftie, who has just finished his A-Level examinations, has seen Taylor perform at all 152 of her Eras Tours shows, mostly on TikTok live streams.
It is not revealed which school Nat was studying in, and as of press time, has not responded to 8days.sg’s request for an interview.
Of course, Nat was present at all six of Tay Tay’s Singapore shows back in March.
He also flew to Canada on Saturday (Dec 7) for the Eras Tour closing night show yesterday.
Before you scoff at Nat being some rich kid with a trust fund, he shares in the interview that he started saving as early as 2018 when Taylor brought the Reputation Tour to Asia.
However, Taylor only performed in Japan, and being only a young teenager then, he was unable to travel alone.
He also says in the interview that his parents wouldn’t take him as they “didn’t understand” why he was so desperate to see Taylor in Tokyo.
Nat tells People.com that he “put the money away until the next time she toured, and then COVID happened, and she didn’t tour for quite a few years”.
Despite being the owner of one of the biggest Taylor Swift fan accounts, Nat says that his family is mostly in the dark about what he does, beyond that it is related to Taylor and that it is work.
Of course, Nat shares in the interview that he does make money through X’s monetisation though most of the profits go towards charities.
In the interview, he says he likes donating to animal shelters in Singapore and hopes to become a veterinarian one day.
With the conclusion of the Eras Tour, we wonder what is next for Nat.
He shares in the interview that @twifterastour account will likely continue as a “normal fan account” but maintaining the same level of “respect” for Taylor’s privacy which has always been a top priority for him.
“You don’t have to miss it. I’m still going to be here, just not updating [about] the tour,” he adds.
