Taiwanese Politician Runs Away With Bill To Stop It From Being Passed During Parliament

Tensions ran high last Friday (May 17) in Taiwan’s Parliament.

According to Focus Taiwan, there was a heated dispute over a reform bill between ruling and opposition party lawmakers.

The incident occurred days before the inauguration of President Lai Ching Te on Monday (May 20).

Lawmakers were said to have tackled and hit each other and the place descended into chaos, resulting in at least five parties injured.

One member of parliament, Guo Kuo Wen, was seen snatching the bill and making a mad dash for the exit to prevent it from being passed.

The dramatic scene shocked many, with Guo now dubbed the “bill bandit”.

He was likened to an American football player, with many wondering just how effective his actions would be since the documents could easily be reprinted.

“He took matters into his own hands,” wrote one netizen, while another joked: “This guy should really be drafted into the National Football League”.

Many were left wondering about the consequences Guo might have to face, with one cheeky netizen asking: “Is there a bill about stealing bills?”
