In 2019, TVB actress Kate Tsui announced that she’s retiring from showbiz to pursue a PhD in psychology in Europe.
Though her plans of furthering her studies eventually came to naught due to the pandemic, the now 44-year-old star remained out of the limelight, except for that one time she made a public appearance at a charity event in Malaysia in 2022.
Turns out, even her ex-colleagues have trouble contacting her.
In a recent interview, Ron Ng, 44, who played Kate’s love interest in TVB dramas such as The Brink of Law (2007), Forensic Heroes III (2011), Wax and Wane (2011) and Season of Love (2019), recalled a time on set with the actress.
They were filming a scene in which his character died and Kate was holding him in her arms and crying.
In order to prepare for that scene, Kate spent hours trying to gather her emotions, but the moment was ruined when Ron’s phone started ringing.
Ron’s ringtone — Miriam Yeung’s ‘Small Town Event’ — made Kate break character.
Ron said Kate was so mad at him that she jokingly smacked him.
When asked if they still keep in touch, Ron lamented: “I can’t find her even though I tried to reach out to her.”
He then asked the internet for help.
“[To all netizens,] If you happen to see her, tell her I’m looking for her,” he said.
