Thai Woman Stages Fake Wedding With Man She Barely Knows; Netizens Think She Was Trying To Scam Her Guests

A Thai woman, Pim, has gained infamy on social media for faking her marriage.

She pretended she was in a relationship with a 34-year-old man, Zen, and went as far as to plan their ‘wedding’ at a resort in the Thai province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. She then invited her friends to attend the event.

Pim’s elaborate charade came to light when her friends realised something was off. They got in contact with Zen and told him about her plans.

Zen shared about the situation on Facebook last weekend, writing: “Today, I became a groom without knowing it. I knew nothing about the wedding. [Pim] used my name and photos to prove to her friends we were in a relationship.”

According to Zen, one of Pim’s friends had sent him a message asking if they were getting married. At that point, many of her friends had already booked accommodations at the resort to attend their wedding.

It would be an understatement to say Zen was shocked to find out about Pim’s plans.

He clarified they were never in a relationship, and when asked by Pim’s friends about his photos on her social media pages, he revealed they were taken by his ex-girlfriend.

Turns out, although Zen and Pim are barely acquainted, they did meet once in person. Pim had asked Zen to invest in a business project, but he did not trust her, and turned down her offer. They did not stay in contact.

Zen later decided to meet Pim’s friends to talk about the situation in person. After the meet-up, Zen made another Facebook post, revealing that Pim had gotten in touch with him to apologise.

But the biggest mystery remains: Pim did not provide reasons for staging the fake wedding.

Zen stated that Pim has been uncontactable since the apology. However, he has decided to forgive Pim, and will not take any legal actions against her.

Many were shocked by his decision, with netizens believing Pim should face consequences for her actions. Zen remained firm in his decision and even asked that netizens refrain from sending Pim and her family hate as she “might be suffering from mental health problems or has been through something bad”.

But here’s biggest twist in this bizarre story.

According to Thai media, netizens refused to take the story at face value and did a deep dive into Zen’s background, where they then discovered he is allegedly facing murder charges.

It led them to believe Zen had teamed up with Pim with the intention of scamming money from their wedding guests. They were further convinced by this theory after seeing that Zen was insistent on forgiving Pim, with the latter also keeping completely mum about her intentions.

Suspicions aside, thanks to the spidey senses of Pim’s friends, the plan was halted in time, and none of the guests lost money. Well, aside from those who had already booked their accommodations to attend the wedding.

Now, why would anyone do that to their friends?
