This Chinese Song Has Non-Mandarin-Speaking TikTokers Lip-Synching Dramatically To It

Have you heard of the ‘Chinese Samsung Song’?

Last year, the 2009 song ‘This is Life’ by Chinese singer Chuanzi made its rounds online, with netizens hilariously paraphrasing the lyrics to be about a woman who cheats on her partner even after he bought her a Samsung phone.

The original meaning of the song is about life and friendship.

Now it seems English-speaking content creators on TikTok have revived the song, with many posting videos of themselves dramatically lip-synching to it.

And they look quite legit considering we don’t think any of them speak the language.

The challenge, it appears, is for TikTokers to apologise for something or mime the song, with all them choosing to mime the song.

Like popular TikToker Azz whose version has since garnered more than 5.5 million views.

Another TikToker Emily aka Maverick Mother, who hails from England, also posted a video of herself lip-synching from her car writing: “Admit to your husband you were wrong and apologise, or sing in Chinese”.

Looking at her passionate performance, it is quite clear what her choice was.

Instead of issuing a challenge, British host Mark Odea posted a video of himself lip-synching to the song, writing, “I didn’t realise this song was in English!”

Netizens had a laugh at what have been appearing on their feeds with one commenting, “They may not get the meaning of the song, but the emotion is there.”
